Hi, I'm Nick.
My approach to counseling is rooted in the belief that empowerment, inclusivity, and meaningful connection can heal people. I often explore the question: What do you want from life that you aren't getting? You might want the ability to find peace in a hectic world, or to look inward, think, and reflect. You might crave more meaning and purpose in your daily life, a desire to be in relation to others, or the courage to grow into your true self.
I work to “demystify” the process of counseling and help clients identify the strengths that they already possess. My clients and I laugh together as much as we cry.
Whatever brings you to counseling, I am honored to be part of the journey. If this is your first time in counseling—or if you've had negative experiences with mental health providers in the past—I aim to provide a comfortable and affirming therapeutic space.

A little more about Nick.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and have been working with clients since 2018. I completed my master's in counselor education (M.Ed.) at Virginia Tech, where I studied under American Counseling Association President Gerard Lawson. During my studies, I co-founded a research-to-practice initiative, AgeWell, which focuses on expanding access to mental health care for seniors. I also co-facilitated a support group for LGBTQ+ youth in Appalachia.
Since graduating from Virginia Tech, I have worked with individuals and couples in private practice and as a member of a nationwide mental health agency. Within the profession I have presented at conferences on older adult and LGBTQ+ mental health, earned my Level I and II certificate in the Gottman method for couples therapy, and completed continuing education on speciality topics including polyamory and non-monogomy, OCD and phobias, and sex therapy.
I'm originally from Kentucky and have lived in Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, and Colorado. When I'm not helping clients, you can typically find me listening to Nina Simone and trying to complete today's crossword puzzle.
